One thing I really don’t understand is why so many people think we’ve received the full story about Luke in the Last Jedi. Shall we review?
Going solely by the movie, Luke suffered a catastrophic personal failure and, instead of dealing with the consequences, he went through the trouble of finding the First Jedi TempleTM just so he could maroon himself there (did Luke take up poetry after RotJ?). Further, he decided the Jedi philosophy itself was somehow to blame for him igniting a saber in a moment of weakness and that had to go too.
People really think everything was going just swimmingly until he decided to look into Ben’s mind? This somehow caused Ben to flip out, convince multiple students to join him in killing the others and then go join Snoke? This so depressed Luke he decided his only recourse was to find the First Jedi Temple so he could strand himself there instead of making any effort in fixing the problem he had a hand in creating? Not only that, but Luke decided the Jedi philosophy was beyond salvage despite being the only living member?
Really? People really think this is all there is despite there being an entire movie to go and gaps big enough to fly a X-Wing through?
